About the Event
The event starts at a specific time on Memorial Day where together all participants will color the streets in blue and white for approximately an hour. We will unite in memory of the fallen soldiers.
How does it work? Registration is through the internet site. After registration and a symbolic payment, one will receive randomly the name of a fallen soldier – he or she will choose one of the options – run/walk/ride. For those interested, an option is available to add an additional specific name of a fallen, which is done in the registration page and choosing the option.
Registrants can view the information about the fallen soldier.
After completing the registration, a code is sent that will be used in collecting the shirt with the event symbol from SoGood gas station distributed around the country. All income will be allocated to the organization's activities.
On Memorial Day (this year on 8 May 2019), at exactly 17:30, we will all go out into the streets wearing the event shirt, coloring the streets in our national (blue and white) color and commemorate the soldiers, who due to them we are able to proudly celebrate Independence Day.
About the Project
The initiative “Running in their memory” was created through my personal experience.
Over the years, like many of us, I too lost friends from the army, friends for life. The best of us that sacrificed their life for our nation and land.
Over the past few years I found a way to release some of my emotions on Memorial Day. Every Memorial Day I found myself going for a run in the enchanting landscapes of our beautiful country and remembering those close to me. I thought with deep feelings of sadness and pain how to show gratitude to those who sacrificed for all of us their precious loved ones. At this time we show our deep and sincere commitment to continue our national run that no one in the world can stop.
I invite you to be part of the experience and make this personal feeling a National Commemoration.
The nonprofit initiative and organization “Through Legs” was founded out of a desire to promote social goals through a variety of different sports.
The initiative and organization was founded after 6 years of volunteer activity to promote youth in preparation for the army, where for several years we were occupied with the initiative “Running in their memory” with the aim of commemorating Memorial Day with activities that cross all sectors/ belief/opinions and allow us as a nation to remember all the fallen soldiers whoever they are – even those that might not be remembered on this day.
The initiative and organization will continue to promote and develop the event in the years to come and will also support additional social activities in the future.
